Starting on Monday, June 24, 2024, NEDCo deployed two teams of officials to Dormaa Municipality and Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District to begin the initiative.
Speaking at a media briefing in Sunyani, Mr. Eugene Odoi Addo, the Sunyani Area Manager of NEDCo, revealed that the outstanding debts include sums owed by both government agencies and the general public, totaling around Gh¢290 million.
When factoring in a station in the Ashanti region under their jurisdiction, the overall debt reaches approximately Gh¢300 million, a figure deemed alarmingly high.
Mr. Addo emphasized that phase five of the exercise would focus heavily on minimizing losses due to power theft and unauthorized consumption.

He warned that legal action would be taken against offenders engaged in such practices to curb the rising rate of loss control, which has increased from 18 to 19 percent over the past two years and currently stands at 26 percent.
Highlighting the importance of addressing these issues promptly, Mr. Addo expressed concern that failure to do so could lead to further escalation beyond manageable levels.
He underscored that the Revenue Mobilization Exercise aims not only to recover outstanding debts but also to instill a culture of prompt bill payment among customers.
He urged all customers to prioritize settling their bills promptly upon receipt to sustain the stability of the electricity distribution system.
