Jacksonville, Florida, rapper Foolio, whose real name is Charles Jones, was shot and killed on the morning of Sunday, June 23, 2024, in Tampa. His lawyer confirmed the news.

Police were called to a hotel in uptown Tampa just before sunrise after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found two vehicles in the parking lot that had been shot at. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Tampa Police Department, three additional victims are in stable condition and are being treated at the hospital.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, and police are working to identify those involved.

Jones had been celebrating his birthday the night of his fatal shooting. Footage posted on his Instagram story showed the 26-year-old rapper advertising a pool party on Saturday, June 22 2024 evening, telling his followers to direct-message him for the address.
Later that night, he posted that police had “shut us down and kicked us out” of their Airbnb. His lawyer, Lewis Fusco, stated that Jones then relocated to a Holiday Inn, where he was reportedly ambushed in the parking lot.
In April, Jones announced the release of his latest album, “Resurrection,” and mentioned that he had survived “MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS ON MY LIFE.” At the time of his shooting, Jones had nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify and had been making music since 2015.
