They have set up a special team to deal with this issue and are training health workers more so they can respond quickly to emergencies.
They are also telling people how to stay safe, like washing hands before eating, not drinking dirty water, and keeping food covered. Dr. Ekuma emphasized that people should not go to the bathroom outside because it’s dangerous for health, especially now.
The health department is working with other departments like water resources and environment to make sure people have clean water and that the surroundings are kept clean.
He told people not to worry but to keep practicing safe health habits and to be aware of what’s happening around them. Dr. Ekuma also said that if anyone thinks they might have cholera, they should go to a health center right away and not just try to treat themselves at home.
NAN has reported that there are cases of cholera in different parts of the country with some people dying from it.
