She is seeking support from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the public.

Mantey, who played a pivotal role in helping Ghana Immigration Ladies qualify for the National Women’s League (now the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League) in 2012, is currently using crutches and wearing a leg brace due to her injury.

She sustained the ligament injury in October 2021 during a friendly game.

“While playing a friendly game with my club at McDan Astro Turf, I jumped to catch a ball during a corner kick and landed awkwardly, twisting my leg. The MRI test showed that my ligament tissues were torn to pieces, and I need surgery costing GHC 60,000,” Mantey explained on Asempa FM.

Despite still receiving a salary from Immigration, Mantey, who played for the Black Queens from 2012 to 2018 and was part of the team that won the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B Women’s tournament in Abidjan, is in urgent need of funds for her surgery.

She also played for the Black Maidens team that secured Ghana’s first-ever FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualification.

Mantey is appealing for help to cover the cost of her surgery, emphasizing the importance of the procedure for her recovery and quality of life.
