Investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo has expressed criticism of the recently held Ojude Oba festival on social media. This annual event takes place in Ijebu Ode, where locals honor their king, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Adetona, Ogbagba II, the Awujale of Ijebuland, during the Muslim Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun spoke on Tuesday about his ambition to elevate the festival to international recognition. However, Olunloyo dismissed the festival as overrated and advised the governor to prioritize tackling serious issues like cultism and ritual killings that plague the state.

She questioned the essence of the festival, criticizing it as merely a show of extravagant attire by stingy individuals from Ijebu, gathered in a stadium with no clear purpose.

She urged for efforts to feed the populace, halt ritualistic crimes, and educate young people to steer clear of money rituals and cult activities.
In her own words,
“What the hell is Ojude festival? Empty hype. Dapo Abiodun wants to make it global. A big joke. All I see is a bunch of stingy people “Ijebus” sitting down in a stadium wearing all sorts of Aso Ebi. What exactly are they watching in that stadium? No one is interested in your excessive fashion parade. Feed the people, stop the ritualists and educate the youth to stay away from money rituals and cultism”.
