The incident occurred in Sag Harbor, New York, early Tuesday morning when Timberlake was allegedly observed “operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition,” as stated by the Sag Harbor Police. Driving a 2025 BMW, Timberlake reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and maintain his lane of travel, prompting an officer to initiate a traffic stop.

Court records indicate that Timberlake informed police he had consumed one martini and was following his friends home. Police noted several signs of intoxication, including bloodshot and glassy eyes, along with a strong odour of alcohol emanating from his breath.

During field sobriety tests, Timberlake displayed impaired abilities, including slowed speech and unsteady movement, leading to his arrest. He reportedly refused a chemical test on three occasions, initially stating, “No, I’m not doing a chemical test.”

According to his attorney Ed Burke, Timberlake was held overnight and subsequently released without bail following his arraignment. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 26, which is expected to be conducted virtually by the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.
