Cat Deeley, presenter of the popular TV show This Morning, has issued a public apology following a controversial comment she made on Monday’s episode. The incident occurred when her co-host, Ben Shephard, asked if she was all right after she began dancing on the ITV program. Deeley responded with a remark that drew immediate backlash: “I’m fine, I’m just having a seizure.”

The comment sparked criticism from viewers and advocacy groups alike. The Epilepsy Society charity took to social media platform X to express their disapproval, stating, “Seizures are no laughing matter for people with #epilepsy @catdeeley. Please do better and educate yourselves about this difficult and poorly understood condition, @thismorning.”

In response to the outcry, Deeley addressed the controversy at the start of Tuesday’s show. She expressed regret for her remark and acknowledged the offence it caused. “I just wanted to apologise to anyone who was offended yesterday when I made a light-hearted comment about my dancing style,” Deeley said. “It really wasn’t supposed to cause any upset to anybody. But I can see why that might have been the case. So I do apologise and am very sorry for the upset.”
