Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala recently revealed her reasons for leaving Barcelona after an illustrious career with the Spanish giants.

Having amassed 117 goals and numerous accolades in 162 appearances, the 29-year-old bid farewell to Barcelona in February 2024 to embark on a new chapter in America.
Oshoala joined Bay FC, a club based in the San Francisco Bay Area, signing a contract until 2026 with an option to extend for another season.
In an interview with FIFA, she explained her decision: “I was very comfortable at Barcelona, but I wanted to experience something new from the beginning.

When I heard about Bay FC’s project, I was thrilled. I love what I do, and my decisions are based on my happiness. It’s been an incredible experience here so far.”

Adapting seamlessly to her new surroundings, Oshoala highlighted the presence of African restaurants that have helped her settle in.
Looking ahead, she is poised to lead Nigeria at the Olympics, expressing confidence in her ability to contribute both on and off the field: “I know my strengths and what I bring to the team. Even when I was with the world’s best team, I was aware of my capabilities.”
