“If I could explain my taste in music in three words, I would say eclectic, honest, and real. I love anything Afrobeats. I like Tyla, I like Burna Boy, anything Afrobeats. But I love Burna so much,” Shakira shared, highlighting her genuine appreciation for the genre and its artists.

Shakira’s connection to African music is not new. She famously sampled the Cameroonian band Golden Sounds’ song ‘Zangaléwa’ for her 2010 South Africa World Cup official anthem, ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’. This song became a global hit, further cementing her affection for African rhythms and melodies.
Shakira, whose real name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, is celebrated as the “Queen of Latin Music.”
