With his current contract of £220,000 per week set to expire next summer, Van Dijk expressed uncertainty earlier this year about his future.

According to the Spanish news source Marca, Al-Nassr has already initiated discussions for a summer transfer, with their general director meeting with Van Dijk’s agents on Tuesday.

They have presented a contract proposal that would position Van Dijk as the highest-paid defender globally. Al-Nassr, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, is looking to bolster their team after finishing second in the Saudi Pro League for two consecutive seasons.

If Van Dijk accepts the move, he would join Aymeric Laporte in defense for the Saudi team. Van Dijk has not yet received a new contract offer and spoke about his situation after Liverpool’s last match of the season.

He mentioned that if he were to say goodbye, it would be an emotional moment, especially considering the fans’ passion. He recalled asking teammate Joel how he managed not to cry during his farewell and noted Joel’s desire to quickly rejoin the team.

Van Dijk concluded by stating that there have been no changes to his situation and that there are no new offers on the table.
