Napoli are preparing for the potential departure of Victor Osimhen this summer. Reports suggest they’ve reached out to Chelsea about possibly signing Romelu Lukaku, who spent last season on loan at Roma.

Lukaku could replace Osimhen, who seems likely to leave Napoli, with Arsenal leading the race for his signature.

Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, and the board are considering selling Osimhen, which would leave a big gap in their attack. They’re looking for a top striker to fill this void, and Lukaku is high on their list.

La Gazzetta dello Sport says Napoli have asked Chelsea about Lukaku’s availability, showing they’re serious about bringing in a top forward. However, negotiations could be tough because Lukaku has a €43 million release clause in his Chelsea contract, which Napoli find expensive.

They hope to negotiate a lower fee or maybe arrange another loan, but Chelsea reportedly aren’t keen on loaning Lukaku again. Lukaku is contracted with Chelsea until 2026, so any permanent transfer would require a significant financial commitment from Napoli.
Lukaku has a strong bond with Napoli’s new coach, Antonio Conte, having won the Italian league together at Inter Milan. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Conte and Lukaku have been in regular contact, discussing the possibility of a move to Napoli.
