Speaking on Beats FM 99.9, Ruger delved into the origins of his latest tracks ‘Luv Again’ and ‘Make Way’, alongside addressing the long-standing feud with BNXN.
The rift between Ruger and BNXN, which spanned nearly three years, stemmed from constant fan comparisons.
Ruger emphasized that while comparisons can sometimes fuel healthy competition, they often escalate into destructive rivalries.
He articulated, “Comparison is a killer of joy, but it’s necessary for the game. This is what is entertaining these people. The arguments and all that.”

The turning point came when both artists decided to prioritize their music over rivalry.
Ruger expressed, “We looked beyond that (the comparisons) and asked ‘How can we push good music together?’ Because there’s a lot of distractions now in the music space.” Their collaboration culminated in the joint EP ‘RnB’, a testament to their newfound camaraderie.
Ruger also critiqued the current music landscape, noting that financial backing sometimes overshadows artistic quality. He contrasted this with their EP, affirming, “If you look at the ‘RnB’ project, it’s very good music.”
In conclusion, Ruger’s journey with BNXN underscores the importance of focusing on creativity while navigating the pitfalls of comparison in the competitive music industry.
