Nollywood legend Hans Anuku has revealed the detrimental impact of a viral video that falsely depicted him as mentally unstable, affecting both his career and personal life.

The video, which surfaced on the internet in 2022, showed Anuku talking to himself and wearing tattered clothes, leading many to speculate about his mental health. The misleading footage caused a stir among fans and the media, raising concerns about the actor’s well-being.
Shortly after the video went viral, fellow Nollywood actress Shan George stepped in to debunk the claims, asserting that Anuku was not mentally unstable. Despite her efforts, the video had already cast a shadow over Anuku’s reputation.
In a recent interview with content creator Lucky Udu, Anuku addressed the controversy, explaining that the footage was taken from a movie set. He clarified that he was preparing for a role that required him to portray a mentally unstable character. According to Anuku, he was deeply immersing himself in the environment to perfect his performance, which led to the misunderstanding.
“I was getting into character for a role where my character was not in the right frame of mind,” Anuku explained. “I was meditating and immersing myself in the environment to authentically depict the character as per the director’s vision.”
Anuku emphasized that his dedication to his craft was misinterpreted, causing unnecessary concern and damaging his career. He expressed disappointment over how easily the public believed the false narrative without verifying the facts.
