Solomon Buchi Resolute on Not Obtaining Nigerian Passports for His Children

Nigerian author Solomon Buchi stirs up debate with his public announcement to exclusively obtain British passports for his children.

He disclosed this on his Twitter account, where he faced criticism for his declaration.

The writer asserts that he intends to solely acquire British passports for his children, emphasizing that the decision to obtain a Nigerian one would be entirely theirs to make.

He believes that patriotism can only exist when citizens take pride in their government.

However, he has experienced his fair share of injustices in the country and therefore would not encourage his children to reside there.

In his post, he wrote; “My children will be British citizens by birth, and I’m not getting them a Nigerian passport/citizenship until they turn 18 and can decide if they want to get a Nigerian passport.

If you think I’m not patriotic, use that your patriotism to buy you a bag of rice for 10K.”
