Ralph Caulton, Former All Black, Dies Aged 87

Ralph Caulton, the well-known New Zealand rugby union player popularly called All Black number 600, has passed away at the age of 87.

Ralph Caulton’s rugby career spanned for about five years as he played for the New Zealand national team on 50 occasions.

Ralph Caulton was a wing and he represented was an instrumental member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks. Ralph Caulton was born in Wellington, New Zealand in January 1937 and died on June 9, 2024, at the age of 87 years.

Ralph Caulton first represented Wellington in 1957 and made a remarkable debut in test rugby, scoring two tries in each of his first two tests against the 1959 Lions.

Ralph Caulton contributed significantly to rugby as a selector for Marlborough in the 1970s, helping the Red Devils secure and retain the Ranfurly Shield.

Ralph Caulton  served on the committees of both the Wellington and New Zealand Rugby Unions and coached at his club Pōneke.
