The Black Stars opened the scoring early in the fourth minute when Ayew, making his 104th appearance for Ghana, converted a penalty. The penalty was awarded after Kamaldeen Sulemana was fouled in the box. Ayew’s composed finish sent Central African Republic goalkeeper Dominique Youfeigane the wrong way, igniting the drama-filled match before a capacity crowd in Kumasi.

Despite the strong start, Ghana faced a setback in the 11th minute when Louis Mafouta equalized for the Central African Republic. Mafouta took advantage of a defensive error by centre-backs Alexander Dziku and Mohammed Salisu, slipping past the onrushing Lawrence Ati-Zigi to level the score.

After trailing 1-2 at halftime, the Black Stars returned to the pitch with renewed vigor. Under the guidance of Coach Otto Addo, they applied relentless pressure on their opponents. This strategy paid off quickly as Ayew and Issahaku netted goals in the 60th and 62nd minutes, respectively, turning the tide in Ghana’s favor with a 3-2 lead.

Ayew completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute, capitalizing on a goalmouth scramble after goalkeeper Youfeigane failed to clear the ball. This gave Ghana a comfortable 4-2 cushion. Although the Central African Republic managed to score again, the Black Stars held firm to secure the victory.

Jordan Ayew’s stellar performance not only secured a crucial win for Ghana but also demonstrated his vital role in the team’s World Cup qualifying campaign. With this victory, Ghana sits atop Group I, well-positioned to advance further in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
