Mahama, a former president, has vowed to collaborate with relevant authorities to retrieve these funds if elected president.

He expressed concern over the rising corruption and fiscal indiscipline under the current Akufo-Addo administration, emphasizing his determination to reclaim all unlawfully acquired resources.

In a live broadcast titled ‘Mahama Conversations,’ Mahama spoke on his commitment to partnering with various stakeholders to recover every illegally acquired Cedi from the public treasury.

He highlighted the notorious case of Cecilia Dapaah, where it was reported that over $1 million was stashed in her residence and subsequently stolen by her domestic staff.

Despite economic challenges, Mahama criticized the extravagant lifestyle of NPP officials, including their use of private jets for travel, which he deemed unnecessary considering the availability of the state’s Falcon Executive Jet.

Mahama expressed solidarity with Ghana’s youth, acknowledging their disillusionment caused by witnessing government officials hoarding wealth. He pledged to collaborate with Ghanaians and international anti-corruption partners to retrieve unlawfully acquired assets.

The remarks were made during a virtual engagement with Ghanaian voters on June 9, 2024, as part of “The Mahama Conversations,” aimed at discussing critical national issues and engaging in meaningful dialogue with the electorate.
