Charlotte Osei, Former EC Chair, Enstooled as ‘Safohen’

Charlotte Osei, the former chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has been appointed as the Safohen of Nkum Asafo Group number 4.

Pictures of Charlotte Osei, adorned in regal attire resembling that of a Queen mother and clutching a whip, representing authority, were shared on her Facebook page. The caption hinted at her stool name being Safohen Nana Ama Kesson.

In her new position, she will spearhead Nkum Asafo Group 4 as a warrior during the Fetu Oguaa Afahye Festival slated for September this year.

The Fetu Afahye is an annual festival observed by the community and leaders of Cape Coast Traditional Area in the Central Region of Ghana. Scheduled to span a week, the festivities are planned to commence from September 1 to September 7, attracting locals from various backgrounds to engage in the cultural celebrations.

The peak of the Fetu Afahye festival unfolds on the initial Saturday of September, marked by a vibrant procession weaving through the community amidst lively dancing and jubilation. The festivities culminate with an interdenominational service held at Chapel Square.
