The second edition of the Africa Cinema Summit was officially launched on June 6, 2024, at the Accra Tourist Information Centre.

This event serves as a platform for stakeholders in the global cinema industry, especially those in Africa, to discuss challenges and explore opportunities in African cinema.
This year’s summit is organized under the patronage of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the National Film Authority of Ghana, and in partnership with Silverbird Cinemas.
Themed “The Relevance Of Cinema In African Communities,” the event will take place from October 7-10 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
The inaugural summit last year brought together representatives from 20 African countries. It sparked important conversations about the cinema landscape in Africa and explored opportunities tailored to the continent’s unique needs.

The 2023 summit, praised by President Akufo-Addo, achieved significant milestones and this year aims to build on that progress, encouraging collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth in the African cinema industry.
This year’s focus will be on improving local content production and consumption, advocating for increased investment in African cinema. The National Film Authority also introduced its executive steering committee at the launch.
This committee includes industry leaders like Moses Babatope, Rob Arthur, Tim Yaw Strutters, Ojoma Ochai, and Funmi Onuma, who will work alongside NFA CEO Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante and her team.
The launch was attended by notable figures such as Deputy Minister for Tourism Arts and Culture Mark Okraku-Mantey, David Dontoh, Adjetey Annan, Bill Asamoah, and Kafui Dey.
