Thaddeus Sory, the lawyer representing Richard Jakpa, expressed dissatisfaction with the court’s decision to reject their plea for a mistrial. Sory believed that the defense should have been granted the chance to present their case for a mistrial in court.
During a recent interview, Sory conveyed the disappointment felt by the accused parties regarding the ruling.
Similarly, legal practitioner Martin Kpebu criticized the trial judge for what he perceived as hastiness in dismissing the mistrial application.
Kpebu argued that the judge’s failure to thoroughly consider the defense’s arguments before making a decision was a grave miscarriage of justice.

Despite the setback, Kpebu expressed hope that justice would prevail in the future for the applicants through other means.
Meanwhile, Justice Efia Serwah Asare-Botwey, in her ruling, emphasized that the audio evidence provided by the third accused did not support the claim of instructions from the Attorney-General to implicate Ato Forson.
However, she advised Attorney-General Godfred Dame to step down from the case for the sake of fairness and public trust. These developments highlight the complexity and tensions surrounding the ongoing legal proceedings.
