The National Communication Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, urged party members to show solidarity with Okunor, who was detained following the discovery of a registered firearm in her car.
Gyamfi emphasized the need to demand Okunor’s release, decrying what he perceived as unjust treatment by the police.

He contrasted Okunor’s situation with that of Hawa Koomson, highlighting that while Okunor possessed a legally registered firearm and had not used it, Koomson had previously fired a gun at a registration center in 2020.
Okunor, along with two others, was arrested after a firearm linked to a stabbing incident was found in their vehicle. Okunor defended herself, stating that the firearm was for self-protection due to safety concerns in Kasoa.
The incident has sparked outrage among NDC supporters, who view Okunor’s arrest as another instance of harassment by law enforcement. As tensions escalate, calls for justice and fair treatment reverberate within the political landscape of Ghana.
