Okosu, heading a three-member panel, also decreed on Friday, June 7, that Multichoice must provide one month of complimentary subscription for its DStv and GOtv services.

The lawsuit was instigated by Barrister Festus Onifade following Multichoice’s announcement of a subscription rate increase effective from May 1, 2024.

The tribunal had previously barred Multichoice from implementing the price hike until the motion was heard.

As reported by Daily Trust, Multichoice contested the tribunal’s authority.

Remember that in April, it was mentioned that Multichoice linked the recent price increase to rising operational costs.

A statement issued by Multichoice, titled ‘Price Adjustment on DStv and GOtv Packages,’ states, “On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, we will revise our prices for all our packages on DStv and GOtv.

“We understand the impact this change may have on you, our valued customer, but the rise in the cost of business operations has led us to make this difficult decision.

“It remains our mission to provide the best entertainment and viewing experience to you, and we are committed to continue to deliver high-quality content and unparalleled service.”
