Despite his significant contributions to Ghana’s movie industry, the 75-year-old actor says that age has been a barrier for him with some producers.
Amugi mentioned that he was once rejected for being considered too old. He pointed out that families need both young and older members to be complete, and this should be reflected in movies and TV shows.
“What we see on screen should mirror real life, where people of all ages live and work together,” he explained.
However, Fred Amugi is not ready to retire. He is currently involved in two film projects. One is titled “The Fisherman,” a film with international appeal made in Ghana.

The other is “Yen Ara,” fully known as “Yen Ara Asaase Ni.” Amugi remains enthusiastic about his work and looks forward to sharing these new projects with his audience.
Amugi also spoke about the qualities that are essential for actors to succeed. He believes humility and discipline are crucial, as they come from understanding and experiencing different aspects of life.
By observing others, actors can learn these traits, which lead to better lives. “Humility and discipline are the key qualities,” he emphasized.
Fred Amugi’s dedication to his craft and his wisdom on humility and discipline make him a respected figure in the industry, despite the challenges he faces due to his age.
