In a letter issued by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the executives were suspended for allegedly engaging in anti-party behavior. The suspended executives are:

– Raphael Andoh Kwaw, Constituency Chairman
– Richmond Aleke, Constituency Organizer
– Grace Kwaw, Women’s Organizer
– Janet Fynn, Deputy Women’s Organizer

The letter, dated June 6, 2024, states, “At a meeting of the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the Party held on the 5th of June, 2024, it was resolved that the following Executives of the Amenfi Central Constituency be suspended forthwith pending further investigations into your anti-party behaviour.”

The suspension is for an initial period of six months and may be extended. The suspended executives’ membership in the NDC is also on hold, and the matter has been referred to the Party’s National Disciplinary Committee for further action.

Additionally, the party has summoned Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central, to appear before its Political Committee.

An interim Presidential Campaign Task Force for the constituency has been formed, chaired by Joana Gyan, the party’s parliamentary candidate for the 2024 elections.

This suspension follows an injunction issued by the High Court in Sekondi against Joana Gyan, preventing her from presenting herself as the elected parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the Amenfi Central constituency.

The court order, presided over by Justice G. K. Gyan-Kontoh, also restrained the NDC from recognizing or dealing with Joana Cudjoe Gyan as the duly elected NDC parliamentary candidate due to allegations of forgery related to her voter’s ID and NDC party card.

The injunction order also states that the applicants must file an undertaking to pay damages as compensation to the respondent if it is eventually determined that the applicants are not entitled to the injunction.
