Singer Joeboy Says He Uses His Songs to Empower Women in Abusive Relationships

Afrobeats sensation Joseph Akinfenwaa Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, has revealed the powerful inspiration behind his hit song “Better.” In a recent interview with renowned media personality Vivz, the “Adenuga” crooner explained that the song aims to shed light on the pervasive issue of domestic violence against women.

Joeboy shared that the song “Better” was born out of a desire to address the mistreatment of women in African society. He expressed concern that women often do not receive the respect and proper treatment they deserve, highlighting the widespread issue of domestic abuse.

“It’s something that happens a lot in African society; domestic abuse. Sometimes women are maltreated and not treated properly. I wanted to shed light on domestic violence against women,” Joeboy stated during the interview.

Vivz, the host, echoed Joeboy’s sentiments and praised the song for its powerful message. “‘Better’ is my favourite song ever. In that song, it’s like you’re speaking up for a woman that has been treated badly by another man,” she remarked, emphasizing the song’s impact and importance.
