Kroos was instrumental for Madrid in the thrilling match, where they struggled for the first 70 minutes, missing several chances due to Dortmund’s Niclas Füllkrug and Karim Adeyemi.

However, as Kroos began to find more room and manage the game’s pace, the momentum changed.
The 34-year-old playmaker was pivotal, assisting the first goal from a corner and orchestrating several key plays that broke down Dortmund’s defense.
His stellar performance secured Madrid’s 15th European Cup title.

Despite his pivotal role, Kroos has announced his decision to retire after the upcoming EURO 2024.
But Ancelotti expressed his hope that Kroos might reconsider his retirement plans.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Ancelotti said, “We hope he changes his mind, and if he does, we’ll be there.”
“He is a legend at this club, and we all thank him for what he has done. Not only through his play but also through his attitude and professionalism. In ten years, he has not missed a single day,” he added.
Despite Ancelotti’s hopes, Kroos reaffirmed after the game that his decision is final, stating his intention to retire after the Euro 2024 tournament.
