John Dumelo, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has denied allegations that he assaulted an individual during the recently concluded Limited Voter Registration Exercise. These accusations surfaced following the circulation of a video showing Dumelo in a heated exchange at the University of Ghana registration centre.

In the video, Dumelo is seen engaged in a confrontation with a person presumed to be a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This incident has led to claims from the NPP and their parliamentary candidate, Lydia Alhassan, suggesting that Dumelo assaulted a student during the exchange.

Responding to these allegations, Dumelo released a statement on Wednesday, May 29, appealing to the public to disregard what he termed as “misleading propaganda” disseminated by the NPP. Dumelo said that he is a peace-loving citizen who holds respect for all individuals, including his political adversaries, and would never engage in actions that could compromise the integrity of the voter registration process.
