Nana Adu Gyamfi, aged 33, and Derrick Ntow Adumah, aged 22, pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy to commit a crime, interfering with suppliers’ distribution, defrauding by false pretenses, and stealing an ECG meter.
According to Mr. Paul Asibi Abarigah, prosecuting for ECG, Gyamfi and Adumah devised a scheme where they collected sums ranging between GH¢20 and GH¢50 from ECG customers, claiming they were conducting meter monitoring operations for the company.

The court heard that on March 25, 2024, the two individuals visited Zone Six in Dansoman, introducing themselves as ECG workers to customers like Margaret Donkor. They disconnected and removed an ECG meter from a house due to an alleged illegal connection.
After demanding money from customers, the pair was arrested and found in possession of ECG equipment, including reflective jackets, a board with the ECG logo, screwdrivers, voltmeters, and ECG meters.
During investigations, both individuals admitted to the offenses, with Gyamfi stating that Adumah had introduced him to the “business.”
As a result, the court imposed a fine of GH¢1,200 on each defendant, with a default option of serving six months in prison.
