The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has firmly rejected demands for the resignation of Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame. During a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, the NPP stated that Mr. Dame will continue to perform his duties with intelligence and determination.

This comes in response to calls from various factions, most notably the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which recently released an audio recording alleging that the Attorney General engaged in a conversation with Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ongoing ambulance case, to implicate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. The NDC has since demanded Mr. Dame’s resignation over his handling of the case.

At the press conference, Frank Davies, Chairman of the NPP’s Legal Committee, dismissed these demands as baseless and politically motivated.

We are clear in our minds that the calls for the resignation of the Attorney General are misplaced, unwarranted, and will not impede the prosecution of Cassiel Ato Forson and his associates,” Davies stated.

Davies further criticized the NDC’s call for the Attorney General’s resignation, labelling it hypocritical.

“Coming from the NDC, the call for the Attorney General to resign is very rich. The AG will not resign and will continue to remain witty, resolute, and focused in the delivery of his work,” he added.
