Members of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM) have issued a call for the resignation of their current executives, citing a lack of accountability and ineffective leadership.

In a press statement released by concerned members, the executives were accused of neglecting the welfare of small-scale miners since their election four years ago.

Allegations included failure to account to the association members, disregarding constitutional provisions, and exploiting members for personal gain.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted concerns about the allocation of mining concessions, with accusations that certain executives received a disproportionate share.

This, along with a perceived disregard for the general membership and ineffective leadership, has led to a stagnation in the association’s growth.

The members emphasized the importance of accountable leadership, particularly in addressing challenges such as illegal mining.

They called on the Minerals Commission to intervene urgently and ensure the establishment of a leadership that is willing to collaborate with all licensed miners.

Failure to comply with the demand for the resignation of the current executives within two weeks could result in further action from the members.
