The incident, which occurred around 7 PM on Monday, May 27, prompted a rapid response from emergency services.
Three fire engines from Chirapatre, KMA, and Manhyia stations, along with the nearest tender from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), rushed to the scene to contain the blaze.
Despite the extensive damage to the shops, fortunately, there were no reported casualties. The swift action of the fire service prevented the fire from spreading further and causing more widespread destruction in the area.

According to DO2 Nicholas Poku Antwi, who oversees regional operations at the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Authorities are working diligently to determine the origin of the blaze and assess the total damage caused.
Antwi emphasized the collaborative effort of the fire service in tackling the fire. “Fire engines from KMA, Manhyia, and Chirapatre came because when they saw how the fire was raging, they immediately called two additional pumps to come and make sure the fire was suppressed as early as possible. The items that were salvaged were more than the items that got burnt,” he stated.
He also confirmed that no injuries were reported, and further investigations, including excavation work, will be conducted to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.
