Sammi Awuku Named Overall Public Sector CEO of the Year

Mr. Samuel Awuku, the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has been named the Overall Public Sector CEO of the Year for the second consecutive year at the 8th Ghana CEO Summit and Excellence Awards.

This recognition highlights his outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the lottery industry.

Mr. Awuku also received the CEO of the Year award in the lottery industry, attributing his success to the collective efforts of the NLA’s Management and Staff.

Under Mr. Awuku’s guidance, the NLA has gained recognition in the sub-region and among lottery bodies.

He has played a pivotal role in establishing the NLA as a key partner for other African lottery bodies, leading to the exportation of the Authority’s games to countries like Ivory Coast and Nigeria, generating revenue for the nation.

Mr. Awuku’s transformative leadership has led to various initiatives, including regulating the consumer promotion space, supporting communities through the NLA Good Causes Foundation, and enhancing staff welfare.

Additionally, he has implemented measures to improve business operations, such as remodeling the Draw Studio and acquiring state-of-the-art draw machines, resulting in the NLA’s attainment of WLA Level 2 Certification in Responsible Gaming.

The Ghana CEO Summit and Excellence Awards recognize outstanding CEOs, business leaders, and executives across various sectors.

The event brings together top CEOs, Heads of State, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from West Africa and beyond for high-impact learning, insightful discussions, and strategic networking opportunities.
