Kieran McKenna, known for his impressive work with Ipswich Town, is no longer being considered for the role of Chelsea’s manager. This update leaves only three potential candidates for the job. McKenna had caught Chelsea’s attention by leading Ipswich to two consecutive promotions and a place in the Premier League.

The sports broadcaster talkSPORT has reported that McKenna is out of the race to fill the vacancy created by Mauricio Pochettino’s exit. This development has seemingly improved Brighton’s odds of hiring McKenna.

Chelsea’s narrowed-down list now reportedly features Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank, and Enzo Maresca. De Zerbi, having parted ways with Brighton, is said to be Chelsea’s top choice, although this would require a financial settlement with his previous club.

Frank has been with Brentford since 2016 and successfully brought the team into the Premier League in 2021, maintaining their position ever since.
Maresca, celebrated for leading Leicester City back to the Premier League, is also a candidate, but his recruitment would come with a £7.5 million fee to release him from his Leicester contract.
In December 2021, McKenna took charge of Ipswich Town and led them to promotion back to the Championship in his first full season in charge. His success earned him a new contract that runs until the summer of 2027, solidifying his role as the Tractor Boys’ manager.
