Georgie Campbell, a British event rider, tragically passed away after a fall at the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon.

The 36-year-old rider and her horse, Global Quest, encountered a fatal accident on the cross-country course during the event’s final day on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
According to reports from Horse and Hound, Campbell and her horse fell into water at a fence, resulting in the rider’s untimely death.
Despite the immediate response of medical professionals on-site, Campbell could not be saved, as confirmed by British Eventing, the governing body for equestrian events.
A statement issued by British Eventing expressed deep regret over the incident, stating, “It is with deepest regret that we announce that Georgie Campbell (GBR) suffered a fatal accident whilst competing at the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England on Sunday 26 May 2024.”
Emergency services, including the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, responded to the incident near Budleigh Salterton at 3:05 PM on Sunday.

Fortunately, Global Quest, Campbell’s horse, emerged uninjured from the fall and was safely returned to the stables after examination by on-site veterinarians.
Campbell, who began riding at the age of two under the guidance of her mother, Debbie, had a remarkable career in eventing.
Initially excelling as a top-level showing rider, she transitioned to eventing and represented Great Britain on numerous occasions, earning accolades such as the highest-placed rider under 25 in the British Open at Gatcombe in 2010.
Global Quest, Campbell’s trusted partner throughout her eventing journey, is an 11-year-old horse that shared many successes with the rider.
The Bicton International Horse Trials, a prestigious four-day event, witnessed this tragic incident during its concluding day.
Campbell, who married New Zealand event rider Jesse Campbell in December 2020, leaves behind a legacy of dedication and passion for the equestrian sport.
