Renowned Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has candidly shared the reasons behind his decision to step away from acting and delve into his personal struggles, including his divorce from actress Anne Njemanze, in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

In the revealing conversation, Arinze reflected on his illustrious career in Nollywood, highlighting his breakthrough role in the 1996 film “Silent Night,” where he gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of the enigmatic character Black Arrow. However, amidst his professional success, Arinze disclosed the toll that typecasting and repeatedly playing the role of the “bad guy” in movies took on his mental health.
“There was a time I took a hiatus from acting when people were casting in that mold of bad boy, bad boy, and it began to affect my psyche and all that,” Arinze revealed, shedding light on the internal struggles he grappled with as he navigated the demanding landscape of the entertainment industry.

Moreover, the interview delved into Arinze’s personal life, marking the first time he openly discussed his divorce from Anne Njemanze, a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Arinze revealed that following the collapse of his first marriage, he opted to abstain from remarriage for over a decade before eventually finding love again.
“I stayed out of marriage after the first one collapsed. I stayed out for like 12 years before I remarried,” Arinze disclosed, offering a glimpse into his journey of healing and self-discovery following the tumultuous period in his personal life.
