EFCC Arrests Gombe Woman for Abuse of Naira

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Gombe Zonal Command has arrested a young woman named Janty Emmanuel for allegedly abusing the naira.

EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale released a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, stating that the woman was apprehended on Monday based on intelligence that she was seen spraying naira notes at a social event.

“Upon arrest, the suspect was shown the video where she was dancing at G-Connect, Tumfure, Gombe State, and spraying ₦1,000 denomination of the naira notes,” Oyewale said.

The EFCC spokesman further revealed that the suspect admitted to committing the crime and will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Spraying or staining naira notes at social events is considered an abuse of the national currency and is prohibited by law.
