During an interview on Kiss Fresh, award-winning superstar Tiwa Savage discussed her debut feature film ‘Water & Garri,’ in which she starred and served as an executive producer.

Tiwa Savage expressed that she felt it was the right time to explore beyond music, and this movie provided her with that opportunity.

‘Water & Garri’ was released on May 10, 2024, along with a soundtrack album featuring guest appearances from artists like Ayra Starr, Young Jonn, Black Sheriff, and Cavemen.

In the interview, Tiwa Savage shared her excitement about collaborating with Brandy, revealing that the American R&B superstar was her inspiration to start singing.

She also touched on the global rise of Afrobeats, emphasizing that African music’s global recognition was inevitable as all music originates from Africa.

During the same interview on Kiss Fresh, rising Nigerian star Ayra Starr praised Tiwa Savage as one of the leading female African artists on the global stage.

Tiwa Savage reciprocated the admiration, describing Ayra Starr as an amazing and genuine artist whom she deeply admires.

Tiwa Savage expressed her pride in Ayra Starr’s evolution into a symbol of female empowerment, highlighting her own journey of facing criticism for being too sexy in the past.

She commended Ayra Starr’s talent and confidence, stating, “She looks amazing and is extremely talented. She’s a star.”
