Ghana secured their spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship by defeating Benin 2-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The Black Starlets claimed a convincing victory with goals from Mark Kagawa Mensah and Theophilus Ayamga. Under the guidance of coach Laryea Kingston, Ghana topped Group A with a flawless record, having previously defeated Ivory Coast 5-1 in their opening match.
Ghana took the lead in the 19th minute when Joseph Narbi orchestrated a brilliant solo run, setting up Kagawa Mensah for the opening goal.

Just three minutes later, Ayamga extended the lead with a well-executed team play that involved 27 passes before he scored from outside the box.
Although Ghana’s performance dipped slightly in the second half, they still managed to create some scoring opportunities against Benin. The team maintained their composure and secured a comfortable 2-0 victory, finishing at the top of Group A ahead of Ivory Coast and Benin.
In the semi-finals, the Black Starlets will face the runners-up from Group B, which includes Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Togo. The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship serves as a pathway for teams to qualify for the 2024 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
