Her remarks were in response to Dr. Bawumia’s announcement that nursing trainee allowances would be paid out after the Ministry of Finance approved GH¢177 million.

Dr. Bawumia, who is also the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), assured student nurses in the Bono Region that their allowances would be settled after confirming the matter with the Ministry of Finance.
He made promises during meetings with student nurses inquiring about overdue allowances and with nurses and midwives in Accra, stating that the outstanding debts owed to trainees would be cleared by Thursday, May 16, 2024.
He mentioned instructing the Controller General to release funds to the Ministry of Health for distribution.

In a social media post, Joyce Bawah Mogtari questioned the whereabouts of the GH¢177 million that was supposed to be released by the Finance Ministry, cautioning against blindly supporting someone who may not have your best interests at heart.
She labeled Dr. Bawumia as dishonest and called for better leadership for Ghana. Despite Dr. Bawumia’s assurances, the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association (GNMTA) reported that its members had not received their allowances as promised.
Pascal Adombillah, President of GNMTA, expressed disappointment over the delayed payments in an interview in Accra, highlighting that the Vice President’s commitment to clearing around 13 months of arrears had not been honored.
