Nigerian-American artist Kehinde Wiley has denied sexual assault accusations made by Ghanaian artist Joseph Awuah-Darko.

Wiley acknowledged having a brief consensual relationship with Awuah-Darko three years ago but firmly denied any misconduct. He described the allegations as false and an insult to real victims of sexual abuse.
Wiley emphasized that there is ample evidence proving his innocence and requested privacy while he addresses these claims.
He expressed confusion over why Awuah-Darko targeted him, hoping that Awuah-Darko receives help for whatever issues he is facing.

Joseph Awuah-Darko accused Wiley of sexually assaulting him twice on June 9, 2021, during a dinner organized by the Ghana Creative Art Council at the Noldor Artist Residency, which Awuah-Darko founded.
In an Instagram post, Awuah-Darko detailed the first incident, saying that Wiley groped his buttocks in front of another guest while they were heading to the bathroom.
Awuah-Darko’s accusations have generated significant attention, but Wiley remains steadfast in his denial and committed to clearing his name.
