Raised in Los Angeles, Bay’s love for action films began when he was young. At just 15, he interned with George Lucas, working on storyboards for “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” which inspired him to become a director.

After Wesleyan, he furthered his studies at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, focusing again on film.
Bay’s first major film, “Bad Boys” (1995), starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, kickstarted his career. He followed this success with “The Rock” (1996) and “Armageddon” (1998), known for their fast-paced action, explosions, and practical effects.
In the early 2000s, Bay directed movies like “Pearl Harbor” (2001) and “Bad Boys II” (2003). His biggest hit came with the “Transformers” series, starting in 2007.
