Ghanaian rap icon, Sarkodie, recently addressed the buzz encircling his latest track ‘Brag’, shedding light on the motives behind mentioning Nigerian music heavyweights.

In an interview with VoxAfrica, he clarified that the references to Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake were not intended as jabs, contrary to misconceptions.
Sarkodie emphasized that his aim was to underscore his enduring relevance in the industry, rather than spark confrontation.
He explained that since these artists aren’t primarily known for their rap prowess, it wouldn’t make sense to target them in a rap feud. Instead, he viewed them as fitting examples to illustrate his longevity at the top of the game.

In ‘Brag’, Sarkodie reaffirms his position as Africa’s foremost rapper by citing his peers alongside rising talent like Black Sherif. However, the track stirred reactions, notably from Nigerian rapper Dremo, who challenged Sarkodie’s self-proclaimed title.
Despite the ensuing back-and-forth, with Dremo taking swipes at Sarkodie, the Ghanaian rapper has chosen to maintain his composure, with fellow Ghanaian rapper Lyrical Joe advising against engaging further.
Sarkodie’s response exemplifies maturity amidst industry skirmishes, highlighting a focus on elevating the craft rather than succumbing to petty disputes.
