Recalling his time behind bars, Showboy revealed his role as a drug dealer, detailing the significant profits he garnered from selling various illicit substances within the prison confines.
He highlighted the exorbitant markup on drugs sold within the prison, with prices often reaching thousands of times higher than their street value.
Speaking to Fiifi Pratt, Showboy described himself as a prominent figure in the prison’s underground drug economy.
“In prison, I dealt in contraband. The markup on these items was staggering, far exceeding their value outside. The prison economy inflates prices to extreme levels. If my sentence had been longer, I could have amassed enough to ‘buy the airspace’ upon release.
“I became the go-to dealer, catering to those who had the means and knowledge to navigate this illicit market,” he disclosed.

Despite the lucrative nature of his business, Showboy highlighted the inherent dangers, including frequent thefts by fellow inmates and the constant need to protect his merchandise.
“My stash was concealed in my clothing, but theft was a constant threat, leading to inevitable confrontations. The scars on my hands bear witness to these struggles. In prison, vigilance is paramount, with constant shifts to guard against theft. Sleep meant risking loss, as the prison never truly rests,” he recounted.
He further elaborated on the intense environment within the prison, mentioning interactions with other inmates, particularly those of Mexican descent who sold knives.
“The Mexicans also don’t sleep, they are the ones who sell knives there, so every night, you’d hear them sharpening the knives with a machine. I bought my knives from them when I was in prison, I had about 20 knives.”
Showboy’s incarceration stemmed from a March 2019 altercation that resulted in him stabbing an acquaintance, ‘Junior US’.
Despite being incarcerated, Showboy remained active on social media, sharing insights on the Ghanaian entertainment scene and documenting his personal journey.
Following his release, Showboy was deported to Ghana in November 2023.
