During a recent interview, Adams expressed dismay over the government’s inability to properly account for the funds.
Out of the $200 million, only $42 million has been justified by the government, leaving a significant portion unaccounted for.
Adams highlighted that even the initial $65 million expenditure remains murky, with doubts cast on its proper utilization. Moreover, he alleged that some contractors received payments without completing the work or even visiting the sites.

Despite these discrepancies, Parliament recently approved an additional $150 million for the project.
The GARID initiative, launched in December 2023, aims to enhance various aspects of infrastructure in the Greater Accra Region, including drainage systems, waste management, roads, street lighting, and water supply.
Adams’ revelations underscore the importance of transparency and accountability in the management of public funds, especially in large-scale development projects.
The government must address these concerns and ensure that future allocations are utilized efficiently and effectively for the benefit of the intended projects and the public.
