During an interview with an Ivorian journalist, Diomande stated: “My dream has always been to represent Ivory Coast, the country of my parents.”

Mohamed Diomande is 22 years of age and is currently playing for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
Prior to playing there, Diomande spent four years with FC Nordsjælland in the Danish League.

The Ghana Football Association and Black Stars’ coach Otto Addo will be very disappointed with the decision of Mohamed Diomande to snub Ghana for the Ivory Coast.
