This milestone achievement is credited to the meticulous plans executed by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, a venture spearheaded by the billionaire entrepreneur.

For years, Nigeria has heavily relied on imported petrol to meet the demands of its rapidly expanding population.

However, with the impending commencement of operations at the Dangote refinery, this dependency is set to diminish significantly.

Already, the refinery has flooded the market with diesel, causing a notable drop in its price by ₦1,000 per litre. This development signals a potential revolution in Nigeria’s energy sector.

Addressing attendees at the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali, Dangote expressed his unwavering optimism regarding the transformation of Africa’s energy landscape.

He emphasized that the refinery possesses the capacity to not only fulfill the petrol and diesel requirements of West Africa but also cater to the continent’s aviation fuel needs.

Dangote’s declaration, made on Friday, May 17, 2024, underscores his confidence in Nigeria’s ability to achieve self-sufficiency in petroleum products.

With this refinery’s impending full-scale operations, Nigeria is poised to significantly reduce its reliance on petrol imports, marking a monumental shift in the nation’s economic landscape.
