This action is due to their failure to submit their annual accounts and update their certificate of membership as required by Section 16 of the Professional Bodies Registration Act 1973.

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has taken steps to initiate legal proceedings against these professional bodies for non-compliance.

A statement issued on May 13 emphasized the importance of adhering to the regulations outlined in the Professional Bodies Registration Act.

The ORC has directed these bodies to file their annual accounts and update their membership certificates by June 30, 2024, to avoid being struck off the register.

Despite the current default status of these professional bodies, they can rectify their situation by submitting their annual accounts by the deadline.

The filing should include audited accounts, an updated list of members, and any changes to the constitution. Failure to comply by the end of June 2024 may result in their removal from the register.

The ORC will continue to educate and raise awareness among registered professional bodies about the importance of compliance with the regulations.

Below is the list of the 65 professional bodies facing deregistration as of April 22, 2024.
