At 24, Semenyo has taken an unusual path, spending years in lower-tier English football before reaching the top league.
Semenyo began his professional career with Bristol City, but he was loaned out to Bath City in the sixth tier and then to Newport County in the fourth tier.
Another loan spell took him to Sunderland in the Championship in 2020 before he got a chance with Bristol City.
His dream of playing in the Premier League came true in January 2023 when Bournemouth signed him for £10 million from Bristol City. Since then, he has become a key player for Bournemouth, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in 31 matches this season.

Reflecting on his career, Semenyo mentioned that he was turned down by several top clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, and Millwall, during his early years.
These rejections nearly led him to give up football, but they also made him mentally stronger. He said, “I went to so many clubs and just got the same result: never making it. I needed to take a break to cope with the emotions of rejection.”
Despite these early setbacks, Semenyo has shown remarkable resilience and character. His outstanding performances have earned him a nomination for Bournemouth’s Player of the Season award.
