Amid concerns about violence during the limited voter registration, the NDC alleges that government officials are hindering police efforts.
Fiifi Kwetey, NDC’s General Secretary, claimed in a press briefing that Afenyo-Markin threatened a Regional Police Commander over the arrest of NPP thugs causing chaos at registration centers.

“In Berekum West, hoodlums deployed by the MP have terrorized registrants and NDC agents, physically assaulting everyone in the queue, and specifically targeting our team with torture.
“Similarly, in Effutu, NPP thugs violently disrupted the registration process, attacking our registrants. Shockingly, Afenyo-Markin threatened the Regional Police Commander not to take any action over these incidents,” Fiifi Kwetey stated.
