Chief Inspector Margaret Ofori Boadi of the Legal and Prosecution Unit at CID Headquarters presented the case to the Court on Wednesday, May 9, 2024.
She outlined that the accused, along with others still at large, conspired to fatally shoot the two off-duty police officers.
The suspects were identified as Mohammed Alhassan Damba, a Public Servant; Chinkor Abdullah Alhassan, a foreman and Arabic translator at Hakska Block factory at East Trassaco; Alex Appoh, a gardener; Bright Nana Kwame Owusu, also a worker at Hakska Block Factory, and Ganiu Iddrisu, a footballer.

According to Chief Inspector Boadi, the incident occurred around 6:30 pm on May 2 when the accused, in collaboration with others, allegedly carried out the attack on the two officers, Lance Corporal Tasigya Ngapun Isaac and Constable Benjamin Tindum, who were seated outside their private residence near Hakska Block Factory.
As investigations continue, Chief Inspector Boadi requested the court to remand the suspects.
However, counsel for the accused, Nelson Noble Adedawonu, sought bail, arguing that the charges lacked substantial evidence, especially since the primary accused was not in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
Responding to the plea, Trial Magistrate Prince Osei Owusu remanded the accused into police custody due to jurisdictional limitations, advising the defense counsel to pursue bail through appropriate channels. The case was adjourned until May 20, 2024, for further proceedings.
